So what is the difference of Christianity from other religions? Some say that all religion worships the same God. Some say that salvation and our relationship with God depends on our motives, not with what we believe and belong. I even read recently that we worship the same God, just having different names.

Some say that religion is insignificant in our relationship with God.

Some say that worship and our relationship with God depends on what’s deep inside in us, not with our belief. As long as we believe that we’re doing the right thing, it is good enough for God.

So, why bother choose or enter a religious organization if you can attain holiness all by yourself?

I had listed some ideas that would distinguish Christianity from other religions and may prove that Christianity came from God, not just a dogma.

Christianity has Trinity; one God in three persons

Although the ancient Rome, Greece and other pagan nations worships multiple gods, Christianity has a totally different aspect. Christianity is considered as a monotheistic religion, meaning, worshiping only one God. But this God has a Son and Spirit. Christianity accepts the deity of the Son and the holiness of the Spirit.

This doctrine is still hard for some to accept and misunderstood until now.

Christianity is the only religion that its leader claimed to be the son of God

Christians are followers of Jesus Christ, whom we accept as the Son of God. There is no other religion that its leader bravely professed themselves to be God. Others didn’t even declare themselves as holy and righteous. They are just considered by their followers as holy, righteous, prophet, etc. Others didn’t have any strong claim of who they are, unlike Christ.

Although some leaders claims that they are the awaited Christ (like the cult leader from somewhere in Davao, Philippines), Jesus’ claim as a God and the Son of God is different. These people who claim to be the Christ or the son of God are just using Jesus’ established reputation to gain followers. This can also be a work of a devil, confusing and deceiving people. Jesus even predicted that this will happen.

“For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” – Matthew 24:5

Isn’t He right?

Christianity has bold teachings

Christianity is a religion that has the boldest doctrine, especially when it was just introduced by Jesus and the disciples. These doctrines are so bold that it costs hundreds of lives of its followers.

It has offended a lot of kings, priests, and authorities. Jesus fearlessly preached on the public even though they are persecuted. His teachings are statements against His race’s religion and traditions.

It just showed that Christianity is definitely not a crowd pleaser. Its teachings hurt like a pierce of a two-edged sword.

“And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges.” – Revelation 2:12

“For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12

“Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.” – Luke 12:51

Now, if Jesus was just seeking for popularity or ‘Likes’, these are the wrong words to say. Strategically speaking, this is a big No for Marketing.

Christianity has unique teachings and doctrine

I believe that Christianity has the most unique teaching of all religions. Although I had read that Christianity is just a copy from another religion called Mithraism, but scholars dismissed this idea. (For further and complete information, read here)

However, its doctrine and teachings still proved to be unique and most sensible and this is one of the reasons why I believed Christianity. Its doctrines are definitely not from this world. Its doctrine actually speaks against man’s wisdom and understanding. Let me give some examples:

Man says: To see is to believe.
God says: To believe is to see

While man gather riches,
God says, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

We seek revenge to those who have done us wrong.
But Jesus says, “…give the other cheek.”

The Sermon on the Mount is one of the best teachings that speak against man’s understandings and wisdom. Such as “the meek shall inherit the earth”, whereas for man, life is a survival of the fittest; “going the second mile”, for man, you’ll get what you pay for; and the hardest to follow of all, “Love your enemy”, for us, it will be totally crazy to love your enemy.

Teachings on salvation – not by works but by grace

This is one of the most unique and the foundation of Christianity, the salvation through grace and not by works. Almost all, if not all, of the famous religion teaches about self-effort salvation such as sacrifices, self-enlightenment, etc.

Christianity only has Jesus to be saved; another bold Jesus claim.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”– John 14:6

Christianity is the only persecuted religion

This is one of the most undisputed facts about Christianity. From the moment it was introduced, it received a lot of persecutions not only its doctrines but its believers as well.

There is no other religion that received such persecutions in our history but Christianity.

Christianity is the only religion that calls for people to repent

Here’s another unique doctrine from Christianity. I believe Christianity is the only religion that seeks and calls for people to repent and to worship God seriously. We even accept other’s mockery just for the Gospel to reach other people so that they may hear and believe and be saved.

This is an act of obedience to what Jesus’ said: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” – Mark 16:15

In this manner, we can see the ‘ownership’ and the love of God to the people.

The only religion that reveals Man’s wickedness

Since Christianity declares Man as wicked, so it calls for repentance. It knows Man’s past, current situation and its future. He knows that Man will lead to destruction so it gives warn and introduced a way to eternal life.

The teaching of Man as a wicked being is certainly not a craft of man, as man loves praises and is self-loving and prideful.

The only religion that introduces the complete nature and personality of God, not just as a powerful superior being

There is no other religion that introduces God as personal as Christianity do. The Bible revealed His Being or likeness to us. We discovered that God is a jealous God (Exodus 34:14), gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy (Psalm 145:8), etc.

And as it presents God completely, it also presents the devil precisely. It didn’t not characterized the devil in general term, but described him completely. Christianity labeled the devil as liar and accuser.

Christianity also has more description with heaven and hell. It didn’t not just described heaven as a paradise but described it in details. Likewise with hell, it described its nature and its purpose, not just describing it as a torment place.

The only religion with lots of controversy

Along with the persecution, Christianity also has lots of controversies. This doesn’t mean that Christianity is a hoax. Christianity already proved itself many times. These controversies are definitely come from the devil. The devil is concentrating on Christianity as it wants to corrupt the Truth and deceive many.

These controversies include The Da Vinci Code, the gospels of Judas and Mary, the Church history, Bible contradictions, etc.

The only religion that has unselfish doctrine

Christianity is the only religion that has unselfish doctrine. The Ten Commandments is summarized with two commandments; Love God and love your neighbor.

Christianity’s salvation depends solely on God, unlike other religion’s that requires sacrifice, self-enlightenment and other self-effort saving soul.

The only religion with prophecies

One of Christianity’s proofs that it is from God is its prophecies (fulfilled). God is the only one who knows the future. The devil can somehow duplicate it, but nothing can be as precise and genuine as God’s.

The only religion that professed to be came directly from God

As its Founder bravely claimed to be the Son of God and a God, His founded Church will automatically be from God. It is the ONLY Church that was built by God Himself.

No wonder that it presents God in a complete manner, like no other religion does.

The only religion with sensible teachings

I consider Christianity as the only religion that has the most sensible and complete teachings for Man. Not only that it preaches about spiritual aspects, but it also guides us in our physical daily matters.

Christianity is a complete manual for relationships, career, attitude, decision making, morality, raising children, clothing, hygiene, etc.

It also speaks about science, future, spiritual, and others.

The most studied religion

While it’s the most controversial religion, Christianity is also the only religion that I’ve known to be the most studied.

A lot of scholars studied Christianity and the Bible whether they are believers or just searching for loopholes. People are curious whether if God really descended from heaven and built His church on earth.
