This is the prompt or question that I had just answered in Plinky.com. There are different answers from different people. But all of us are singing in the same tune. The common ground of our answers to this question is Man himself. Everyone knows or aware that mankind is killing himself. He knows that the most destructible force to mankind is not outside of him but it’s inside of him. As the T800 Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) of the movie Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines says: “Man is capable of destroying himself”.
People’s answers to this question varied from; ourselves, our brain, greed, etc. However, my answer to this question is our heart.
Our heart is the root of all evil. From the heart comes the desire. Our parents committed mankind’s first sin with the desire of power, the desire of being god. Satan fell on this sin too, the desire to be on the same level as God the Father. Sadly, not learning from the Bible, our generation follows the same pattern, we desire power. We can see it in the government, corporate, school, organization, community, it’s all over our society. We call the first sin of mankind as “The Fall of Man”. By calling it this way, we are aware of the weight of the effect of this mistake to mankind itself. On that moment, mankind has already been destroyed.
The Father already warned us to guard our heart: Proverbs 4:23 KJV – “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” And He also revealed how heart can be deceitful and not be trusted: Jeremiah 17:9 KJV – “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” These warning came from the One who made our being, and therefor knows our system, physically and spiritually. Because of this, obedience to His words is wise indeed.
Satan also has a slight idea of our human structure. He certainly knows where and when to hit us. He knows that our heart is wicked and he will offer us anything that we desire (from our wickedness). Crimes, sin and destruction comes from wickedness and wickedness comes from the heart.
We also illustrate how a “sharp tongue” or hurtful words can destroy one’s spirit. And the Bible also has something to say to this: Matthew 12:34 KJV – “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”
If only we knows how to guard our hearts, then there would be no killing, stealing, adultery, greed, selfishness, and there would be no guns, bombs, weapons of mass destructions and hurtful words to bear for a lifetime.
The mind only materializes what the heart desires. Desires sprang out from the heart and the mind finds the way to make it happen.
