It is not my intention to follow up the previous post about the end of the world. It’s just happened that I had a thought on a very early morning that I couldn’t go back to sleep. The title is from a show on National Geographic Channel.
The show features people (Americans) who are preparing for the end of the world or doomsday or apocalypse or whatever they call it. They dig holes, tunnels or use their own basements as hideouts for catastrophic events. They store lots of foods and search for alternative sources. They are training to use guns for protections.
On the latest End of the World Mayan prediction, there is a story about some Chinese built a large ball that they could use as hideouts when the doomsday happens. They even called them as ark based on the Biblical Ark of Noah.
These scenarios made me think about the Bible prophecies about the last days when the unbelievers will hide on the caves because of the fear of the Lord. (Revelation 6:15-17 and Isaiah 2:19)
For me, these two pictures are no different from each other. Although the former may not be intended to hide from the Lord (because most of them, if not all, doesn’t believe in God), but the catastrophe that they fear will precede the coming of our Lord.
Note that aside from these private, improvised hideouts, all of the famous survival locations in the US and other parts of the world are created underground or inside mountains.
The following Bible prophecies will occur on the Great Tribulation. The Great Tribulation is the worst time that humanity will ever experience (Matthew 24:21). In these times, people will experience natural disasters, famine, chaos, etc. Thinking that these occurrences is the end of the world, people will start to hide in their ‘caves’ until they will realize that the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ is true.
As Christians, we are not much bothered about the Great Tribulation. We all know that as believers, our Savior will snatch us out of this world to avoid suffering and this is the time that our sacrifices and faith will be rewarded. We know that the current natural disasters and chaos only proves that everything that is in the Bible is true and His coming is near. Truly our faith in His promises makes us calm, confident, and gives us peace of mind in whatever will come.
And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? – Revelation 6:15-17
And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. – Isaiah 2:19
